Slovakia’s capital, Bratislava, has about 40 municipal organisations, dealing with various agendas. To improve their operation and the services they provide, and remove the burden of some repetitive tasks, the city has created a brand new entity: the Bratislava Service Centre.
Launched on April 1, 2023, it centrally provides support services to more than a dozen city organisations in two major areas, which have been defined as the most demanded. More services are expected to be added in the coming months.
“Our clients especially highlight the improvement in the quality of contracts that we’re preparing, and the flexible counselling with our legal team,” Tatiana Kyselová, head of the Bratislava Service Centre, told The Slovak Spectator. “We also place a great emphasis on the precision of preparing documents for public procurement.”
At the same time, the Bratislava Service Centre has relieved the burden of creating unpopular directives, and prepared templates that are currently used across organisations, thus saving time that can be invested in other services, Kyselová added.
The centre, which draws inspiration from the private sphere, more specifically the sector of business service centres (BSC), has been shortlisted for an award granted to top BSC companies and executives across central and eastern Europe. A win would make the city more visible to potential investors, according to observers.

Gradual expansion of services and clients
The Bratislava Service Centre replaced the city’s previous shared services department, founded in September 2022 as part of the Municipal Shared Services for Bratislava project.
