The Ministry of Transport, Construction and Regional Development has been delivered a decision by the European Commission, according to which the initial phases of projects D1 Hričovské Podhradie-Lietavská Lúčka; D1 Hubová-Ivachnová; and R2 Zvolen Východ (East)-Pstruša will definitely be covered by European resources.

“Following difficult negotiations with the European Commission, we managed to work out a phasing model for large infrastructure projects,” Transport Minister Jan Počiatek said. “By virtue of this, it’ll now be possible to carry out big transport projects smoothly.”

The two sections of D1 highway and the Zvolen stretch of R2 expressway belong among the so-called phased projects, financed under two financial European fund frameworks. The EÚ will cover costs in total of more than €150 million in Slovakia, according to the ministry.
