Cabinet provides money to modernise hospitals

THE CABINET has allocated €30 million outside of the state budget for the modernisation of hospitals, with the money earmarked for the improvement of 27 health facilities.

Prime Minister Robert Fico and Health Minister Viliam Čislák announced this initiative as the introduction to the penultimate 14th measure from the second Government social package at Faculty Hospital in Trnava on December 3.

The resources have been divided among 13 university and faculty hospitals and 13 health facilities which come under the remit of the Health Ministry and the National Institute of Oncology.

“We intend the money to pay for the reconstruction of external and interior places, replacement of windows, acquisition of beds or repair of elevators - those are first things the patient notices after arriving at a hospital,” Fico said, as quoted by TASR.
