The growth in new car registrations continued in July, supported
by the two rounds of the temporary scrapping bonus introduced
earlier this year. The Association of Slovak Automotive Industry
(ZAP) reported that registrations of new passenger cars and
small utility vehicles of up to 3.5 tonnes increased 20.09 percent
in July compared with last year. The total number of new
registrations in this category reached 11,210 vehicles in July
alone.
During the first seven months of this year, 59,397 cars in the
aforementioned category were registered, which is 3.22 percent
more than in the same period a year ago.
Ranking of cars sold during the period from January to July 2009,
with their share of sales and the number of units sold:
