Kia Motors Slovakia plans to launch a three-shift operation in the engine-producing department of its plant in Teplička nad Váhom near Žilina, the Sme daily wrote on March 6, quoting spokesman Jozef Bačé. He added that the increased interest in engine production has opened new jobs especially for candidates with technical education and practical experience, offering various positions, one-week training and later also enhanced training.
The new model to be produced by PSA Peugeot Citroën in its Trnava plant shall be Citroën, the Denník N daily wrote on March 6, quoting the ČTK newswire. The plan is to invest hundreds of millions of euros, out of that €80 million in Trnava. However, this will probably not bring new jobs.

Labour unions in the Trnava plant are at the same time negotiating salary increases, with a potential strike looming, according to the Hospodárske noviny daily. The daily also wrote that as there is no consensus in sight and the Economy Ministry should now send a mediator to find a solution acceptable for both sides.
