PHARMACEUTICAL manufacturer Slovakofarma and Czech pharmaceutical giant Leživa Praha may soon belong to the same company.

Warburg Pincus, an American fund and current owner of Leživa, has expressed interest in acquiring a majority share in Slovakofarma. The deal awaits the approval of both the Czech and Slovak anti-monopoly offices.

According to Leživa general director Jiři Michal, "The synergy from the union should mean that we concentrate our resources on speeding up our innovative activities."

If the purchase is approved, the combined group will be one of the five largest firms in central Europe.
