LEAF Slovakia, a daughter company of the Dutch confectioner Leaf International, launched full production at its new Sk1 billion (€29 million) plant at the Levice-South industrial park near the town of Levice (Nitra Region) on June 14, the TASR newswire wrote.
The company, which has 200 employees, currently has an annual production capacity of 6,000 tonnes of sweets and chewing gum. The plant has four lines supplying products for the Dutch, French and British markets. The company plans to expand to around 500 employees and 15,000 tonnes of confectionary per year by the end of 2009.
Leaf International has 14 branches across Europe. The Levice plant is its sixth largest facility in terms of capacity and number of employees.
