Embraco to open shared services centre in Košice

BRAZILIAN company Embraco will open a new shared services centre in the eastern Slovak city of Košice.

The world leader in production and development of compressors will employ 150 people there, the Hospodárske Noviny daily reported.

Until now, the company was known for carrying out its financial operations and human resources in individual plants across the world.

“In the case of Košice it will be the first corporate Embraco centre in the world,” company’s spokesperson Gabriela Vlková told Hospodárske Noviny.

The company considers Slovakia a good location due to educated an labour force, universities and also a favourable time zone, she added. Moreover, Košice benefits from good infrastructure and the fact that similar centres have been established there recently.

The total investment will amount to €5 million over the next two years.

Meanwhile, the first team of 30 people began their activities.

“We use our internal sources for the beginning, while we also launched the recruitment of new people to work as analysts, specialists and leaders,” Vlková told Hospodárske Noviny.

Košice is also attractive location for other companies, like IBM, T-Systems and NESS. The processing centre of Tatra Banka is also located there. More recently, Holcim company established its own shared services centre there, Hospodárske Noviny wrote.
