Evax dominates in bread moulds

THE COMPANY Evax Slovakia is a family business owned by Eva and Juraj Dzvoník from Ruskovce, near the Slovak-Ukrainian border, which produces wooden bread moulds known as brotforms. The Dzvoníks started their business in 1998 when a nearby plant manufacturing brotforms closed, and their firm is now the biggest producer of brotforms in Europe, the Hospodárske Noviny daily reported.

In spite of their strong market position and a growing order book, 2012 was a difficult year for Evax as it had to find a new supplier of rattan, the type of wood used to make brotforms, after Indonesia, its previous source, banned exports.
