Fashion fair kicks off in Trenčín March 25-28

The biggest fashion and clothing fair in Slovakia, to be held in the self-styled "Town of Fashion" - Trenčín- will celebrate its 30th anniversary at this year's event on March 25-28. Shoewear, leather and leather accessories now constitute a separate fair called Togako, taking place at the same time. The fair promises to be a full week of fashion and textiles. Accompanying the regular fair will be the third annual Salon of Textile and Clothing Technologies.Another activity, organized by the Slovak Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Association of Textile and Clothing Industries and the management of Leipzig Fairs, will be a seminar on March 25, in which Leipzig Fairs will present their activities and events organized at their new fair facility in Leipzig.

Another activity, organized by the Slovak Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Association of Textile and Clothing Industries and the management of Leipzig Fairs, will be a seminar on March 25, in which Leipzig Fairs will present their activities and events organized at their new fair facility in Leipzig.

"It is one of our goals this year to reach out beyond Slovakia's borders," said Ľubomír Kopecky, general director of the TMM facility, which houses the fair.

"In Leipzig they are organizing a similar fashion show, and they want to make a presentation here,"Kopecky continued. "In return, we will be able to present our activities in Lepzig." Another seminar, called Certification of Textile and Clothing Products, also will be held on March 25, and organized by the Slovak Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Association of Textile and Clothing Industry, and VÚTCH Chemitex, s.r.o.

The aim of the seminar is to provide producers, exporters and importers of textile and clothes with information on export possibilities to EU and CIS countries. Also highlighted will be the latest pending legislation and laws for imports regarding product certification.

Also organized as an accompanying event will be the Evening of Fashion on March 25 at the Dom armády in Trenčín, with presentations by Slovak textile giants Merina Trenčín, Ozeta Trenčín and OP Prostejov. At the Togako fair, the Association of Leather and Shoe Industry will organize a seminar on certification and health criteria for footwear.

All together there will be 200 exhibitors at Trenčín, and 36 exhibitors at Togako. The event is co-organized by the Ministry of Economy, the Association of Textile and Clothing Industry and the Regional Office of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Exhibition History

The fair facility Pod Sokolicami in Trenčín was built in 1960. It has been gradually expanded, and today it is one of the biggest fair facilities in Slovakia, together with the fair facilities in Bratislava and Nitra. The TMM faciltity has 10,000 square meters of indoor space and 20,000 square meters of open air space. Every year it hosts 28 events, with exhibits that represent every type of Slovak industry.

Last year, 150,000 visitors came to see exhibits at the TMM facility, with the number of exhibitors in individual events reaching 1,545. In the last four years the joint-stock company TMM focused solely on organizing fairs and exhibitions for contractors.
