One of Slovakia’s most economically fragile regions is set to receive a rare injection of industrial investment, as Finnish manufacturer MSK Group prepares to expand its operations in the Sabinov district.
The story, first reported by business magazine Index, comes as local unemployment hovers around 6 percent – a figure many experts consider misleading due to widespread depopulation. Much of the region’s younger workforce has already migrated to larger cities or abroad, leaving behind limited employment opportunities.
MSK Group, a long-standing industrial presence in eastern Slovakia, will carry out the expansion through its subsidiary MSK Plast. The company, based in the village of Lipany since 2016, specialises in producing plastic components for the cabins of construction and agricultural machines such as excavators and cranes.
