Slovakia recorded a foreign trade turnover of 482.744 billion Sk for the first nine months of this year, up 10.5 percent from last year, the Slovak Statistical Office announced.
The trade deficit reached 39.236 billion Sk and was 1.695 billion higher compared to the end of August.
Trade deficits were recorded in trade with OECD countries (6.295 billion Sk) and EU countries (2.488 billion Sk). On the other hand, Slovakia ran a trade surplus with CEFTA members (9.984 billion Sk). Slovak exports totaled 221.754 billion Sk during the first nine months, a 12.2 percent year-to-year increase.
The largest share of exports went to the Czech Republic (26.8 percent), followed by Germany (23.1 percent), Austria (6.9 percent), Italy (5.6 percent), and Poland (5.5 percent).
The share of exports to the EU was 45.2 percent of overall exports, growing by 22.9 percent p.a. Slovak imports were 260.99 billion Sk, a 9.1 percent annual increase. Imports from Russia had the largest share of overall imports, at 15.6 percent.
