With two goals in the final game, Slovak ice-hockey player Nela Lopušovaná helped her team Bishop Kearney Selects win a decisive 9-0 victory over the Worcester White Hawks/North American Hockey Academy. The win secured the USA Hockey Girls Tier 1 title for the former.
"We played like a team, and that was the most important thing," Lopušanová told the USA Hockey website, adding, "It's why we won."
Lopušanová was one of the eight different skaters to score for Bishop Kearney Selects.
The young Slovak talent notched 13 points (10+3) and placed second among the scoring leaders in play-offs; still, she was the best on her team.
Her team ended the 2024/2025 season with a remarkable record of 52 wins and 3 losses, all of which came against Canadian teams.
In the regular season, Lopušanová scored a total of 69 points (41+28) in 55 games. Compared to 47 points (25+22) in the previous season, she improved significantly.
Last season Lopušanová's Bishop Kearney Selects made it to the finals too, but they lost to Shattuck St. Mary's in overtime.
Earlier this year Lopušanová made history as the first player to win the most valuable player award at two consecutive U18 championships.
