German automotive manufacturer SAM Automotive is entering the Slovak market. It will set up its production plant in Veľký Krtíš and gradually create more than 800 jobs. The production premises are already prepared. SAM Automotive will produce aluminium door components and roof racks. In particular, its clients will be Volkswagen Slovakia, Audi and Mercedes Benz in Hungary.
“Our goal is to launch a new SAM Automotive Slovakia production plant for the increase of production capacities, competitiveness and accessibility to trade partners,” said Dirk Fischer from the SAM Automotive group, as cited by the TASR newswire.
This year the global supplier of exterior aluminium components for leading automotive manufacturers plans to employ about 150 people. The production premises should be about 30,000 square metres while this will require further construction. The investment plans are divided into three phases with full production capacity projected for early 2023, informed Anna Weissová, marketing officer of Wesconi Banská Bystrica, the company providing project management and operational consulting.
SAM Automotive considered several countries when deciding about the new locality for expansion. One decisive factor in favor of Slovakia was its very good position in the automotive industry.

Veľký Krtíš is located in south-central Slovakia, which traditionally suffers from lack of investments due to insufficient road infrastructure. The local jobless rate calculated from jobseekers able to take jobs immediately was 8.96 percent in January compared with the country's average of 5.88 pertcent.
