Parliament has passed a job-creation package freeing employers from paying five months of social fund dues on the salaries of long-term unemployed people or recent graduates.
Slovakia has one of the highest unemployment rates in Europe at just under 20%. During its term the government has introduced a public works programme designed to bring levels of joblessness down.
However economists say illegal employment is commonplace because of the relatively high costs for employers when taking on staff.
