The summer season of charter flights was launched at Košice Airport on Monday morning with a flight to the Egyptian city of Hurghada provided by Egyptian airline FlyEgypt.
As many as 19 seaside destinations in 11 countries are on offer this season with departure from Košice: Antalya (Turkey), Burgas (Bulgaria), Lamezia Terme and Olbia (both Italy), Ercan (Northern Cyprus), Larnaca (Cyprus), Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona (both Spain), Heraklion, Rhodes, Corfu, Thessaloniki and Patras (all Greece), Hurghada and Marsa Alam (both Egypt), Monastir (Tunisia), Rijeka (Croatia), Tirana (Albania) and Podgorica (Montenegro) the TASR newswire informed.

Building on the previous summer season, a total of five new destinations have been added (Larnaca, Olbia, Patras, Marsa Alam and Podgorica).
Last summer, a record number of charter passengers - 120,323 - were processed at Košice Airport. The airport’s management believes that this season could see a new record.
“In addition to favourite destinations, we expect holidaymakers to be highly attracted to the new destinations, such as Larnaca in Cyprus and Podgorica in Montenegro,” said the airport’s CEO Michal Tmej.
