The M2 money supply aggregate (the amount of money circulating in the economy) grew by 8.9 percent annually last December, a spokeswoman for the NBS's Monetary Department announced on February 18. It is a considerable improvement over the 11.5 percent recorded in November and the 12.9 percent in October. In December 1996, the annual M2 growth was 16.5 percent.
