Bratislava's Obchodná ulica should get more lively once a McDonald's restaurant opens in a small new shopping center there next month.

The fast food restaurant - McDonald's third in the capital city - will occupy one of 14 retail outlets in City Centrum, a small shopping center slated to open at Obchodná 58 in December, according to a report in Staromestské Noviny. The building, which has been under reconstruction since this past spring, will also house a DM drug store on its ground floor and a KoĹąar watch store on the first floor. The building is being re-developed by a firm called MTK Bratislava s.r.o.

By staying open from early in the morning until late in the evening, the 100-seat restaurant is expected to add new life to a pedestrian street lined with small shops that are generally closed evenings and on Sundays. McDonald's had wanted to open its first Slovak restaurant in another building on Obchodná back in 1995, but was discouraged when contract talks broke down.
