The M. R. Štefánik Airport in Bratislava handled nearly a million passengers in the first seven months of 2016, up by 16 percent compared to last year.
With 975,447 passengers processed, there were almost 14,869 landings and departures combined. This is 7 percent more than in the same period last year. At the same time the airport handled 12,796 tonnes of freight, also up by 7 percent year-on-year, the TASR newswire wrote.
“Operational results of the Bratislava airport posted positive figures for the seventh month in a row,” said the airport’s general director Ivan Trhlík, as quoted by TASR. “Despite the geopolitical situation – having, unfortunately, adverse effects on the summer charter season – we expect that the overall increase of handled passengers in 2016 will reach a double-digit percentage figure, like last year.”
The airport handled almost 257,814 passengers in July, up by 2 percent y/y, with almost 2,983 landings and departures, and 1,881 tonnes of processed cargo.
The five most frequented destinations are London, Dublin, Berlin, Milan (all operated by Ryanair) and Moscow (operated by Pobeda), TASR wrote.
