A NEW telecom operator, Železničné Telekomunikácie Bratislava (ŽT), started providing public fixed-line voice services across Slovakia on May 1. ŽT is part of the Železnice SR railway company.
"ŽT became the second largest fixed-line operator in terms of the number of telephone lines operated, which has reached 10,000," said ŽT's Marek Brna for the SITA news agency.
ŽT's customers include the railway transport companies Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko and Železničná spoločnosť Cargo Slovakia. ŽT connects its customers to its own fibre-optic network, which is why the company does not need to rent circuits from the market leader, Slovak Telekom.
