No BSE in Slovakia so far this year

SLOVAK veterinarians found no trace of Mad Cow Disease in the first half of this year.

From January to July, Slovak veterinarians inspected 37,725 beef samples for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). None of the samples registered as BSE-positive, reads a report published by the State Veterinary and Food Administration (SVPS).

Out of all animals tested, 28,285 were healthy, 8,930 were deceased, and 509 were slaughtered for emergency reasons, the SITA newswire wrote.

Two samples from animals that showed clinical symptoms before they were put down also proved to be negative.
