Farmers whose crops will be negatively affected by global climate changes will be able to ask for financial assistance from the Environment Fund, according to an amendment passed by parliament. The new rules are a response to this year’s draughts which resulted in serious damages to the harvest, the SITA newswire reported.
The rules will allow the agricultural aid agency to give a loan to the Environment Fund which will then lend the money to farmers at 0.5 percent interest, SITA wrote.
