It is now possible to purchase a train ticket via a mobile app, launched by Slovakia’s state-run railway passenger carrier ZSSK on November 6.

The app, named “We Travel By Train” (Cestujeme Vlakom), is available on smartphones with the Android operation system, the SITA newswire reported.

ZSSK hopes that the app, together with the new online train ticket sale, which will be launched on November 13, will simplify the whole online purchase of the tickets, said the carrier’s general director Filip Hlubocký.

“The mobile application, with the new responsive sales system, is just one of the puzzle pieces within ZSSK’s modernisation, which we are preparing for our customers,” Hlubocký said, as quoted by SITA.

During the testing operation, three-quarters of passengers rated the application with four out of five stars, ZSSK informed.

“They liked its design and operation the most, but said it lacked several functions, which will be introduced as part of its further development, such as the information on train delays or payment with their credit account,” said Milan Hric, director of digitalisation and systems development at the ZSSK, as quoted by SITA.
