"It is possible to pay with Visa and Mastercard credit cards for essentially anything at each branch and without any charge starting in February," said Peter Helexa, the general manager of Slovenská Pošta, as quoted by the SITA newswire.

The post offices will accept the most used payment cards such as Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and Diners Club. Until now, customers could pay only with the credit cards issued by Poštová Banka and Slovenská Pošta cards.

Moreover, card payments will not be limited to a minimum amount.

This step is one of the goals set in the company's 2020 strategy adopted by the new management of the state-owned firm last autumn.

"The card payment is a very common thing and we want to increase customer satisfaction and comfort at the Slovenská Pošta offices," Helexa said, as quoted by SITA.

It will also reduce, in part, expenses on processing the cash, as well as the waiting time at the firm's branches, he added.

The company plans to introduce card payments for courier driver services and a mobile application this year as well, according to the press release.
