President appoints Naništa as new ÚRSO Regulatory Council chairman

The council had previously elected its new head without revealing the person's name.

President Andrej Kiska appointed Radoslav Naništa as the new chairman of the Regulatory Council of the Office for the Regulation of Network Industries (ÚRSO) on August 15. The appointment is effective immediately, Martin Lipták of the President's Office told the TASR newswire.

The Regulatory Council announced on June 28 that it had elected its new head from among its members, without revealing the person's name. The name of the candidate for appointment was reportedly delivered to the president, as stipulated by law.

The posts of ÚRSO chair and Regulatory Council chair were separated by a law introduced this year after the dismissal of ÚRSO and Regulatory Council head Jozef Holjenčík following a hike in the public's electricity charges. The coalition condemned the price hike as excessive, and rates were returned to their previous levels.
