The price of highway stickers will not go up next year. Passenger car drivers will continue paying €50 for annual, €14 for monthly and €10 for 10-day highway stickers. Time validity of highway stickers will not change, either. The annual highway sticker will thus be valid from January 1, 2019 to January 31, 2020.
“We are leaving the prices of highway stickers at the same level in order to motivate drivers to choose highways and dual carriageways,” said Transport and Construction Minister Árpád Ersék (Most-Híd), adding that highway fees are subsequently invested in the development of road infrastructure. “These enable more comfortable, faster and safer travel.”
Slovakia has not changed the price of annual highway stickers since 2011, specified the ministry, adding this price is the lowest in the region.
“Some 790 kilometres of highways, dual carriageways and first-category roads, administered by the National Highway Company (NDS), are currently available to drivers,” said the ministry’s spokeswoman Karolína Ducká.

Sales of highway stickers have an upward trend in Slovakia. Over €66 million (excluding VAT) was collected in electronic highway stickers by the end of August 2018. In 2017, the number of stickers drivers bought increased more than 7 percent to 4.3 million, worth almost €73 million excluding VAT.
Trucks and buses are tolled on Slovak highways and dual carriageways based on kilometres driven.
