The German company Preussag Recycling-Salzgitter will submit this month to aluminum producer Závod SNP Inc. (ZSNP) in Žiar nad Hronom a feasibility study for a new facility to recycle old cars. ZSNP will provide production facilities, idle since old smelters were shut down for not meeting environmental requirements. The new line could recycle 30 to 50 scrap cars daily, and almost all the extracted materials will be reprocessed in Slovakia, including glass, tires, car batteries, oils and metals. ZSNP has engaged a consulting company to prepare a complex piece of legislation regarding dealing with waste to help carry out the project. The new legislation will be submitted to the government this September.
