The low-cost airline Ryanair is cancelling flights after November as well, the Sme daily wrote on September 27, citing the company press release.
During the winter flight schedule, the airline will have 25 planes less than originally expected.
Hundreds of thousands of people
Ryanair claims that thanks to this step, it will not be forced to scrap more flights in the future. The current move should impact around 400,000 passengers, it estimates.
“The cancellation will impact less than one flight a day from a total of 200 airports during the winter period,” the company wrote. “Many of them have currently zero bookings.”
Ryanair promises that every customer involved will receive an email about the changes while the airline will promise either an alternative flight, or full fare refund. Moreover, customers will receive a travel voucher worth €40 or €80.
By the end of October, M.R. Štefánik airport in Bratislava will be affected: Monday evening departures along with arrivals to and from London will be cancelled. And in winter, there will be no flights to the Greek town of Thessaloniki.
The effort to make flights more exact according to schedule, as well as excessive using of the days off and holidays were cited by Ryanair as the reason behind this step. Also, many Ryanair pilots – 140 so far – have left to work for Norwegian Air at a time when qualified staffers are lacking in the market, Sme wrote.
