Overall trading turnover on the Slovak foreign exchange interbank market rose to $84.48 billion in 1997, compared with $41.6 billion in 1996, the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) said on April 17. The NBS said trading at its daily crown fixing totalled $2.49 billion in 1997, virtually unchanged from $2.5 billion in 1996. The central bank added that overall net foreign currency assets of the Slovak banking sector totalled $6.49 billion at the end of last year, a significant increase over $2.41 billion at the end of 1996.
