Interior Minister Ladislav Pittner said on his return from a trip to Strasbourg that Slovakia had joined an international convention on money laundering and the confiscation of illegal gains.
Pittner said that the convention allows the government to consifcate illegally-acquired property from Slovak citizens even when these gains are hidden in offshore accounts. Pittner suggested that the convention would ease and speed up the work of the Slovak law-enforcement bodies.
