Yeme, the supermarket that bakes its own bread and pastries, processes meat right in the shop and sells fruit and vegetables which come mostly from Slovak farmers, plans to expand. It opened its first store on Tomášikova Street in Bratislava close to the new Fresh Market, last March and this year it plans to open two additional stores.
The first will be located at Búdkova Cesta in Horský Park while the second one should open in the recently finished Panorama City development near Europea.
At Búdkova Cesta the shop will be about one quarter the size of the store on Tomášikova Street and it will bear the label, Malé Chutné Yeme (Tiny Tasty Yeme). It should open in March. One of the reasons for this new store is to be closer to its customers.
The store at Panorama City should open in the autumn. It will be half the size of the existing store.
“We would like to open a store for an intensive urban zone; for people who are very busy at work and who will only pop in to do fast shopping in the evening and hurry home,” said Peter Varmuža, the head of the company, as quoted by Sme daily. “It should also serve people who cannot go for lunch and instead buy something at our fresh bar.”
For now the financial results of the company are not known. Varmuža indicated that they closed 2016 in the red, but EBITDA should be positive.
