Tatry Mountain Resorts could buy two Austrian ski resorts

THE SLOVAKIA-based holding Tatry Mountain Resorts (TMR), which operates ski resorts and provides tourism services in Central Europe, appears to be interested in buying two ski resorts in the Austrian Alps, Hospodárske Noviny daily reported on May 26.

Igor Rattaj, co-owner of the company, told HNtelevizia TV channel, which launched its broadcasts on same day, that the company is particularly interested in the higher level of purchasing power in Austria.

“There’s potential to have completely different revenues there,” said Rattaj. “I can say that the Austrians don’t know how to do it. Unfortunately, they do business in a way that allows a certain area to survive, not to generate profits.”

The holding already operates ski resorts in the High and Low Tatra Mountains (Tatranská Lomnica, Štrbské Pleso and Jasná), a theme park in Liptovský Mikuláš, the Špindlerův Mlýn ski resort in the neighbouring Czech Republic and a number of smaller ski resorts in Poland.
