THE THIRD Annual Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) took place on April 26 in Bratislava at the Design Factory. The Pontis Foundation organised the event, which brought together 130 business managers and representatives of non-governmental organisations.
This year the conference presented new forms of how a company can communicate its responsibility towards the community, the environment, employees, and other involved parties. The conference also focused on tools to measure the effectiveness of CSR programmes.
In the afternoon session of the conference, the marketplace of CSR ideas took place for the first time in Slovakia. US Ambassador to Slovakia Rodolphe Vallee opened the conference. Slovak firms presented their successful projects in supporting the community, the environment, responsible business relations, and employee policy. Out of 40 submitted projects, the conference organiser selected 20 for introduction to the public. Among the firms that presented their solutions were Citigroup, Orange Slovensko, Pfizer, Philip Morris, Skanska, Slovak Telekom, VÚB, and US Steel Košice.
