Last Friday, the state-owned ŽSR railway company started operating night trains directly from Bratislava to Split, Croatia. The EuroNight train departed from the Bratislava - Nové Mesto station at 15:26 with 173 travellers, meaning it was 96 percent full.
The trains will be operated until October 4 in cooperation with Austrian carrier Österreichische Bundesbahnen. They will run three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 3:26 PM, and will continue towards the Bratislava - Petržalka station. The trains will arrive in Split at 08:20 AM next day. The trip will take 17 hours in total.
In the opposite direction, trains will depart Split at 5:29 PM on Thursdays, Saturdays and Mondays, arriving in Bratislava - Nové Mesto at 11:00 AM next day.
This year, car trains will be available only from Vienna due to repairs on the track in Marchegg.
The capacity of a train is 60 seats, 96 seats in sleeping cars and 60 in a couchette car.
According to ŽSR, the ticket prices are dynamic, meaning that they depend on the time of purchase, as well as interest from travellers. The earlier the ticket is bought, the more favourable the price. Generally, a single ticket for an adult starts at €39.90 and €19.90 for a child up of to 15 years of age; a couchette in a 6-seater compartment starts at €59.90 or €34.90 in the case of a child.
