UNICEF concert raised €40,550

THE EIGHTH edition of a charity auction and the gala concert in the High Tatras on November 24 raised €40,550. UNICEF will use the funds to help children in Syria suffering from the military conflicts in the country, the SITA newswire reported.

Along with enjoying a concert by Slovak opera diva Adriana Kučerová, the attendants could auction nontraditional items or activities.

A jersey of the FC Barcelona club with signatures of players including Lionel Messi, was of interest to the highest number of bidders and in the end fetched €3,500. A sailing trip from the BMW Sail Racing Academy sold for €3,600. Moreover, a bidder paid a record €8,000 for a portrait to be painted by prominent Slovak artist Robert Bielik.

The auction of a trip to Uganda with UNICEF also fetched €8,000.
