US most important investor in Slovakia this year

Nine months into 1998, the United States is the most significant foreign investor in Slovakia, investing 2.46 billion Sk in the Slovak entrepreneurial sector as of the end of September. Great Britain came in second with 2.45 billion Sk since the beginning of the year. Overall, the influx of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Slovak companies from January to September 1998 totaled 8.32 billion SKK. This information was data released in the NBS (National Bank of Slovakia) monetary review for October 1998.

The third biggest investor in Slovakia is the Netherlands, investing almost 2.18 billion Sk. US, British, and Dutch capital made up over three-quarters of total Slovak FDI this year. Less important investors in Slovak companies were Austria (689 million Sk), Germany (676 million Sk), Belgium (229 million Sk), France (182 million Sk), and the Czech Republic (158 million Sk).
