The company, which is tied to tycoon Juraj Široký, is one of the country’s biggest construction firms. The Smer-dominated parliament modified it’s restructuring plan so banks will get back 85 percent of their claims in the next five years, while small unsecured creditors will obtain 18.75 percent. Váhostav’s restructuring plan is currently being assessed by a judge, who is expected to announce her decision by May 22.
“If the court approves restructuring, construction company Váhostav-SK will need to exist further, of course, and it will continue to exist only if it actively applies for all projects,” emphasised Moravčík, as quoted by TASR.
Meanwhile, this year the NDS has already launched a motorway tender for the construction of a section of the D3 motorway between Čadca Bukov-Svrčinovec in Žilina region worth an estimated €199.1 million without VAT. In addition, NDS is planning to launch another two tenders in late May. These should involve the construction of two D1 sections between Prešov West and Prešov South as well as between Budimír and Bidovce (Kosice region).
“We’re interested in taking part in [the tenders for] all three motorway sections that will be launched by NDS this year,” said Moravčík, as quoted by TASR.
The director said that the company wants to present bids that would enable it to build the individual sections.
“I’m not afraid that we wouldn’t be able to pay our suppliers,” said Moravčík, as quoted by TASR.
