Váhostav to build sewage pumps in Cyprus

Slovakia's biggest construction firm Váhostav said on April 7 it planned construction of 20 sewage pump stations in Cyprus worth $6.0 million. "Váhostav won a tender by the Sewerage Board in the eastern-south Cyprus town of Paralimni," said project supervisor Vladimír Lazur of Váhostav, adding the project was financed by the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. "This is Váhostav's first international project of this type," Lazur said, adding that the project is a 50-50 joint venture with Cypriot construction firm Cybarco, fully managed by Váhostav. "The management is Slovak, while suppliers for the project will be found through a number of sub-tenders, mainly among local firms there," he said. Váhostav is contesting another tender for the construction of a sewage cleaning station for the Cypriot towns of Paralimni and Ayianapa.
