ELEVEN cities across Slovakia will again welcome thousands of volunteers as part of the “Our City” project, the biggest corporate volunteering event in Slovakia, which this year will be held on June 14 and 15.
“Everyone can contribute to the appearance of the city in which they live,” the Pontis Foundation, the organiser of the event, wrote on its website.
This year, volunteers will help in Bratislava, Galanta, Sereď, Šaľa, Žilina, Košice, Partizánske, Liptovský Hrádok, Spišská Nová Ves, Trnava and Poprad. Volunteers can select from more than 350 activities at schools, kindergartens, NGOs as well as civic initiatives. The activities on offer include cleaning, painting and other beautification activities, but also activities with children and seniors. The Pontis Foundation reported that this year one ‘hot’ activity is helping to restore castle ruins.
In 2012, as many as 5,000 volunteers helped out with various activities as part of the “Our City” project in 11 towns and cities. The Pontis Foundation organises “Our City” together with the Engage group of companies.
