Agri-assistance decreases

TO COPE with preparations for accession to the European Union, all candidate countries have increased assistance to their agriculture sectors. But Slovakia, instead of increasing subsidies in line with the cabinet's agriculture programme until 2005 and the Law on Agriculture, actually decreased the funds allocated for agriculture in 2002 by Sk450 million year-on-year, say farmers groups.
