Components maker to replace tobacco plant

A CAR components producer fom Germany is expected to create hundreds of jobs in the eastern Slovak town of Spišská Belá, Economy Minister Pavol Rusko said on april 5.

Rusko would not reveal the name of the investor and only added that the company was expected to submit an exact offer to the ministry in the course of a week.

The British tobacco group Imperial Tobacco announced in late January that it would close its Spišská Belá plant of 300 workers in May. The new investor would thus help to maintain employment in the area, or even increase it, Rusko said.
