SPP to lay off up to 550

CHANGES in the national gas utility SPP will reduce the current workforce of 5,500 by as much as 10 percent in the coming months, the news wire TASR wrote.

Last year SPP worked on changes to its organisational structure. The current restructuring phase aims to stabilise and optimise the its divisions.

The changes should take effect as of January 2005 and will concern several departments of the transit, distribution, and services divisions.
