JÁN GONŠČÁK has received an award from the Circue du Soleil's Community Support Grants for the Visual and Performing Arts Programme.
The dancer and choreographer was honoured for his performance in a co-production project entitled TRANSIT(ion) by the US-based Ballet Mink Colbert and the Tangere Dance Theatre in Slovakia, the SITA newswire wrote.
The dancers introduced the project in Las Vegas on February 2 and 3. Gonščák's show Ellis Island, about immigrants starting a new life in the US, is part of the project.
Gonščák is the first Slovak artist to have received the award.
