Ten firms want to operate cargo transport facility at Bratislava Airport

The arrival of a large air cargo carrier should support the development of cargo transport at Bratislava airport, the SITA newswire wrote. Ten companies have so far expressed a preliminary interest in operating a cargo facility. Transport Minister Ľubomír Vážny recently agreed to address potential cargo transport operators with the new director of the Bratislava airport, Zdenek Schraml. "We will evaluate these expressions of interest within six weeks or two months and will search for solutions in the fourth quadrant of the airport," Vážny said, following an inspection day at the Bratislava airport. Results of two-round talks with potential investors should be known by the end of this year. It is still to be confirmed whether cargo service will develop only on the airport's existing premises, which cover 16 hectares, or in the so-called fourth quadrant. If this is the case, it might mean significant growth of cargo transport by, for example, Asian, Russian, German and other carriers. SITA
