Slovakia's dominant power generator, Slovenské Elektrárne (SE) is planning to build a combined-cycle steam and gas power plant in Vojany.

The company's monthly publication, Slovenská Energetika, reported that SE is conducting a geological survey in the locality as part of project preparations. The output of the new plant should be about 400 megawatts (MW). The power producer has not specified how much it will cost but a member of SE’s board of directors, Jaroslav Mil, recently stated that the company intends to spend about Sk8 billion (€265.551 million) on the Vojany thermal power plant, the SITA wrote.
