Bratislava will come to life in the following days with the celebrations of the St. Martin Days. The Bratislava winemakers will present their wines on the Primacialne Square on Friday, November 10 and Saturday, November 11. American composer George Whitefield Chadwick is little known to us. His work however deserves more attention. The Jubilee song is the first part of the Symphonic Sketch cycle, in which Chadwick responds to some unusual stimuli. Theatre Night

Bratislava, Saturday, November 18

The eighth year of the Night of open theatres, performances, and exceptional experiences “Theatre night 2017” will be held on Saturday, 18 November in 23 cities throughout the whole of Slovakia. Performances will take place in 49 theatres during the third Saturday night in November ensuring a great, lively atmosphere. The Master of Okoličné and the Gothic Art of Spiš circa 1500 – The Master responsible for decorating the former Marian altar from the Franciscan monastery in Okoličné near Liptovský Mikuláš belongs among the best painters of the Central European Late Gothic period and he worked with other important Spiš sculptors, including Master Pavol. Adam Friedrich Oeser - In February 2017, three hundred years passed since the birth of Adam Friedrich Oeser, a painter, engraver, sculptor and art teacher. On this occasion, the Bratislava City Gallery mounted an exhibition mapping the life and work of the native of Pressburg who became a reputable figure of cultural and artistic life in Dresden, Weimar and Leipzig. His life and work are interesting for scholars in the area of not only art history but also literature, pedagogy and book culture. He has been perceived primarily as a spiritual driving force of early classicism, a friend and a teacher of the giants such as Johann Joachim Winckelmann and Johann Wolfgang Goethe. Edward Quinn: My friend Picasso - Quinn began to take photos of famous movie stars and celebrities at the French Riviera. He worked for Paris Match and numerous other magazines and agencies. Meeting Picasso in 1951 was a crucial event which influenced his photography. He won the artist’s trust and their close cooperation continued until 1972. Picasso allowed him to take photos of various activities: Picasso while painting, Picasso the sculptor, Picasso in the pottery workshop in Madoura. I feel weird again – Artists working with photography use lenses to reflect past events, mythology and a century-long artistic tradition.
