In the Bojnice Courtyard complex stands a charming little rustic hut with hidden treasures.

The Folklórna Chyža / Folklore Rustic Hut is a unique project based on the event accommodation concept, the nehnutelnosti.sk website wrote on January 25. The tiny hut is furnished in folklore style and is unique both in appearance and location. It is located a mere 50 metres from Bojnice Castle.

Who is behind the Folklore Rustic Hut project?

A young Slovak woman, Zuzana Peniašková, started this project. She has liked national folklore and its traditions since she was a child, and as adult, developed an interest in event accommodation. Thus, she decided to combine these two things, and Chyža is the result.

“I have been dancing folklore dances and travelling, here and abroad,” Peniašková explains. “I think Slovakia is a country that has a lot to offer, and I was surprised by how many things we have here which are not known at all. We do have a few event accommodation facilities in the country but as I like our traditions and folklore issues, I missed accommodation of this kind. So I decided to bring it to the Bojnice Courtyard. I want people in Slovakia and elsewhere to get the feeling they have traveled several centuries back. They come to experience a night full of events with a view of the castle directly from their beds.”

After you enter Chyža, you see a tiny room ideal for a couple or a single person. Zuzana furnished the interior herself, finding the decorations that she recycled and repaired. “I also painted Chyža with Slovak ornaments,” she notes.

Despite being so small, Chyža makes a very cosy and comfortable impression. It has also a shower and a toilet, while a restaurant and a café are located nearby. There are also kiosks with traditional Slovak craft products. The romantic atmosphere makes up for the fact that there is no TV or Wi-Fi here.

Tourists come from all over the world

Already in the first year of its existence, tourists have come to like Chyža – both Slovak and foreign ones. The Book of Visits reveals that tourists from Paris, New Zealand, USA and Indonesia came to visit. This interest incited the idea of a similar project.

“This time, it will be a smaller holiday apartment with a view of the castle – with a folklore theme, of course,” Peniašková told nehnutelnosti.sk. “It is another challenge for me but I believe that a second Chyža will garner success with people.”
