The firm is regularly ranked in the top tiers of renowned international ranking publications such as Chambers and Partners, IFLR1000 and The Legal 500, and many of our lawyers are recognized as leading practitioners in their fields. The firm also maintained its position as one of the largest Slovak law firms when it rose from 3rd place in 2016 to second place in 2017 in The Slovak Spectator’s ranking of the 10 Largest Law firms in Slovakia.

JUDr. Jaroslav Ružička, PhD., the Office's Managing partner, expressed his delight with the awards: “We are delighted that our over 25 year-long activity on the Slovak market can be measured not only by our individual business successes. We are proud to be a longstanding premium law firm, whose work and results are highly appreciated.

Public procurement leader

Ružička Csekes is one of the undisputed leaders on the Slovak market in public procurement, as evidenced by our unprecedented winning streak in this category since the beginning of the competition in 2013. Our attorneys have worked on many major projects for the public sector, providing advice on the construction of motorway, rail and air infrastructure, and supporting state and local authorities in the implementation of health, sports and cultural projects. They have unique experience with PPP projects, as they advised the Ministry of Transport and Construction on the public procurement of the PPP project for the R1 expressway between Nitra and Banská Bystrica. So far, this is the first and only successfully completed and implemented PPP road infrastructure project in the Slovak Republic.

"Public procurement leads to the acquisition of goods, services and construction by the public sector. It is closely related to the strategic needs of the state. At the end of the day, you can see a new or refurbished infrastructure or other real project. As such, public procurement law differs from many other legal sectors. The effort brings visible results that should serve the public for many years." Ján Azud, leading partner for public procurement.

Ružička Csekes also represents a number of private sector companies applying for public contracts in Slovakia or abroad. We have also represented clients in international tenders conducted in Poland, Bulgaria, Belgium, Slovenia and Hungary.

Corporate law: even a small change can fundamentally affect the business

Corporate law is an important area for Ružička Csekes. After several second place finishes, this year the firm repeated its victory from 2014 in the category of the Law Firm of the Year competition.

Ružička Csekes finds its role in the corporate area in providing services of a rather complex and strategic nature, including corporate reorganizations and acquisitions, modifications of organizational schemes, implementation of diverse system measures/precautions across companies and providing strategic advice to solve problems at the top management level. Thanks to the many years of experience of the firm’s lawyers, our clients have come to expect comprehensive, innovative and effective solutions.

"We consider corporate law to be one of the key legal sectors. Although the legislation in this area is quite stable, even a minor change can have a major impact on the business and the legal status of companies and corporations." Lucie Schweizer, leading partner for corporate and M&A.

Ružička Csekes was established in June 2009 by the merger of two independent law firms: Ružička & Partners, s.r.o. and CVD s.r.o., both of which had been operating on the legal market in Slovakia since 1992. The firm thus continued in its operations with the extensive practical experience of its predecessors, who during their existence have acted as strong, reliable and significant entities on the legal services market. The firm offers its clients universal and specialized legal advice in all areas of commercial and business practice with prerequisites for managing the largest projects and transactions.
