The first round of presidential elections in Slovakia will take place on Saturday, March 16. If neither of the candidates receives the majority of votes from eligible voters, the second round will be held two weeks later, on March 30.

It stems from an announcement of Speaker of Parliament Andrej Danko, published on the official parliament’s website on January 10.
January 10 is also the day when the official presidential campaign begins. It will end 48 hours before the elections begin.
Those interested in running for the presidential post now have time until January 31 to submit their candidacy, the Sme daily reported.
Though several people have already announced their candidacy, there are still nominations missing from the two coalition parties of Smer and the Slovak National Parties (SNS), as well as from the opposition Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OĽaNO) movement.
