Less than a week after the second round of the presidential election, the Slovak EU Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič met a group of Slovak journalists in Brussels. He also described the reactions of his colleagues in Brussels about the presidential campaign in Slovakia.

How was your return to Brussels?

It was very fast, I arrived on Monday, and on Wednesday I submitted the first materials in which we summed up what we have achieved in energy union. I submitted the strategy for the production of batteries in Europe. We are organising another summit to tackle that issue, on April 30, to get things moving in the right direction.

EC President Jean-Claude Juncker assigned me to lead the EC delegation to Beijing, for a summit on the New Silk Road.

So, my calendar is filling up quite fast and, obviously, we will soon have a campaign before the European Parliament elections. I will try to use my potential there, to make sure more people turn out to vote than they did last time.

Do you find it more pleasant to be back in your "traditional" agenda of EU Commissioner?

I must stress that the transition was very fast. I still get a lot of e-mails and messages with words of encouragement and congratulations. Many people write that they miss us already.
